Part of the ABC Islands of the Netherlands Antilles, Curacao lies about half way between Aruba and Bonaire in the Caribbean Sea. Our journey to this part of the Caribbean was during the month of November in 1999.

Our underwater photographic efforts were still in the early stages of development. The images were captured using a Sea & Sea Motor Marine II camera on negative film and later scanned into a digital format.

Capturing this trunk fish revealed the flounder below. There is always an ever present eel keeping an eye on you. You may even find a scorpion fish or two, though seldom is there one so accomodating as to lay out in the sand waiting to have his picture taken.

Octopus are normally hiding, but this one entertained us for a quite some time. Ocassionally, a turtle will show a curious interest in what you are doing in his backyard and colorful worms are always in abundance.
