The Jill was a Nakajima B6N navy carrier attack bomber. It was a single engine 3-place airplane, housing a pilot, an observer/navigator, and a radio operator/gunner. This Jill is found South of Dublon Island and Northeast of Eten Island, from which it was probably taking off. Part of the debris from the wreck is a 7.7 mm type 97 machine gun and its bullet carousel.

A image of the port (left) side of the Jill was taken late in the day, but a reasonable outline of the aircraft can still be viewed.

Many divers clamored about the ship, stirring up the sand and further diminishing the visibility. Shown are the left wing and the starboard (right) side of the empennage (tail section) of the airplane.

On the left are divers viewing the cockpit. In the center, Sharon captures me taking an image of what is left of the pilot's instrument panel.

Behind the pilot were the observer/navigator and behind him the radio operator. On the right, Mike Johnson and I take a look at the 7.7 mm machine gun.
