Travel from Sacramento, California was to be a leisurely trip to Los Angeles via San Francisco and thence to Caracas, Venezuela. Did not happen! When traveling prepare for the unexpected and allow enough time to make up for delays. Having our early morning Sacramento flight break down created a serious problem, as we could not get to San Francisco until late in the afternoon. A half day delay getting to Los Angeles was further exasperated when the rescheduled flight to Caracas was further delayed another few hours. Fortuntely, we had planned a day in Caracas before boarding our dive boat, the Antares Dancer. We never made our Caracas hotel and day events, but did arrive in time to connect with the small aircraft flight to Los Roques. Message, when traveling, prepare for the unexpected.

The Antares Dancer, depicted above, provided a comfortable platform from which to enjoy our week in Los Roques.
Our actual diving was supported from the smaller boat, shown below. While we dove, the support crew fished. Imagine our surprise when climbing back into the boat and being met with this Wahoo staring back - eye ball to eye ball.

Our trip to Los Roques was still early in our diving and photo experience, November 2000. The following images were captured using a Sea & Sea MX-10, using 35 mm slide film, which was later digitally scanned for viewing here.
