The San Francisco Maru was a single screw vessel developing 440 horsepower, built in 1919. It was 385-feet long and 51-feet wide, displacing 5,839 tons. It is now found in 130 to 190-feet of water Southeast of Dublon Island (which I believe is was renamed, Tonoas Island).

Numerous tanks (including the type 95 light tank) are scattered on the deck of the San Francisco Maru, along with the tractor shown on the right. They are at a depth of about 165-feet.

Descending into a hold we find a mine and many, many metal containers, which are believed to contain cordite.

Diving such a deep wreck it was a definite relieve to exit the interior and see open water again. Note the extra tank and regulator for use in an emergency, should one run low on air at this depth and an additional spare tank hanging at 15-feet from our dive boat. This was my deepest dive to date, exploring the interior of the vessel at 186-feet.
